Kenny Kerr – I traveled with Kenny Kerr for a week to stage manage his latest run of shows. First, we first started off in Borrego Springs, CA at the Borrego Springs Spa, Golf and Tennis Resort. Wow, what an amazing retreat to get away for their spa facilities and to play golf or tennis. The entire staff was so amazing and made us feel like family. Then it was off to the Spa Resort in downtown Palm Springs, CA. Kenny had a new co-star with him in this run of shows – former Broadway and Hollywood star Kit Smythe came out of semi-retirement to perform with Kenny. Kit was the original Ginger in the pilot of Gilligan’s Island, Gertrude in Bewitched, starred in over 134 TV commercials, and was the lead singer in the Palm Springs Follies for three years. Watch for Kenny and Kit for more upcoming performances.

Shecky Greene – Legendary comedian Shecky Greene celebrated his 85th birthday by performing onstage at South Point. Complimentary champagne was given to all audience members for all 3 of his shows to toast Shecky on his birthday wishes. His quick wit and comic timing is still sharp and fresh. On Sunday night, Shecky was given a cake and sung to by his good friend Steve Lawrence, along with Dennis Bono and South Point owner Michael Gaughan.

Wes Winters at South Point – Wes has made the Grandview Lounge inside South Point Resort his new home on Thursday and Friday nights. There is no cover for his show which currently runs from 5pm – 8pm and on Friday night’s (from 4pm – 10pm), all drinks at South Point are Happy Hour specials for only $2. There are two spacious dance floors in the lounge for your dancing pleasure. Make Wes and South Point your new Thursday or Friday night hot spot!

Mosaic – The highly popular acapella singing group Mosaic is making the Silverton their new Las Vegas home. Silverton has a new performance venue called the Veil which is an intimate facility perfect for these talented guys. Heath, Troy, Sean, John and Josh are truly amazing – all percussion and vocals come from their voices – not a single musical instrument is used in their show. George Wallace had them as his opening act for a year and now they are the opening act for Prince and Jay Leno. Check out the Silverton’s website for their next performance dateswww.SilvertonCasino.com.

Gladys Knight – This past week was Press Night at the Tropicana for Gladys Knight’s show in the newly renamed Gladys Knight Theater. All I can say is WOW, 2 hours of Gladys connecting with the audience and singing her hits. Her voice is crisp and clear and she never loses a beat. Her sincerity and appreciation for the audience comes across very strongly and she is truly a legend with a warm and caring heart.

Tony Orlando – “Tie a yellow ribbon ‘round the old oak tree”… Tony Orlando still has it and is singing that song. I have been listening to Tony and Dawn since they became popular in the 70’s and this was my first time to see him live. His band which includes his younger brother on keyboards rounded out a great show. Thanks to the staff at South Point for their hospitality and the opportunity to see Tony.

Seth Grabel – Las Vegas magician Seth Grabel has been filling in for Louie Anderson on nights that Louie is on tour.Seth brings his mystical magic show to the Louie Anderson Theater inside the Palace Station Casino. Check outwww.SethGrabel.com for his upcoming performances. Seth is a long time friend of the entire staff here at Callback News.

Pawn Stars – I had the rare opportunity to meet Rick, Corey and Chumlee while hanging out during the filming of an episode for their popular reality show. Pawn Stars is currently ranked as the #1 show on cable TV! Congratulations guys.
