Fremont Street Goes Country - The Academy of Country Music and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority announced that country music superstars Ronnie Dunn and Sara Evans will be the headlining performers for ACM Concerts at Fremont Street Experience, to be held on consecutive nights, April 1-2, 2011 in Las Vegas.  Dunn will headline on Saturday night, April 2nd and Evans will headline on Friday, April 1st. These concerts take place in conjunction with The Week Vegas Goes Country®, the week of the 46th ANNUAL ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS, honoring country music’s top talent and the industry’s hottest emerging talent, to be broadcast LIVE from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas Sunday, April 3rd, 2011 at 8:00 PM live ET/delayed PT on the CBS Television Network. Grab your cowboy hats and head down to Fremont Street next week!

Miss USA - NBC, Donald J. Trump and Paula M. Shugart, president of Miss Universe Organization, announced that the 2011 MISS USA® Pageant will air on NBC Sunday, June 19 (9-11 p.m. ET) from the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas at the Theatre for Performing Arts. Comp tickets are usually available for locals to fill the seats for the TV airing.

Tropicana Las Vegas – Seven-time Grammy Award-winning performer Gladys Knight will headline in a special engagement at the newly transformed Tropicana Las Vegas, beginning Tuesday, April 5, 2011. The Empress of Soul will be welcomed home by the Tropicana for a multi-month engagement. The show can be seen Tuesday through Thursday at 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday at 9 p.m., beginning April 5. All ages are welcome when accompanied by an adult.The Tropicana has recently renamed the Tiffany Theater to the Gladys Knight Theater.

Pepper Mashay in Hollywood – I recently spent a week in the Hollywood area for business. One of the nights, I was the guest of International Dance Diva Pepper Mashay for her new ‘Blues’ lounge act under her real name Jean McClain.Pepper is her alter-ego wild dance diva persona. Her new CD will be released next month and I will let you know when it’s available – she has an amazing soulful voice!


Brazil – Gateway Arts Foundation recently sponsored an educational event on the history of Carnaval in Brazil which I previously suggested that you all attend. It was one of the most interesting events that I have attended in a long time.Music, dance, martial arts, and the history of the whole Carnaval experience was showcased. Here is a picture of me with the beautiful Brazilian Dancers (photo courtesy of Ric Riolo).
