AREA15 WILL EXPAND DISTRICT BY 20 ACRES

 

AREA15, the immersive art and entertainment district located minutes from the Strip, has announced a monumental expansion spanning 20 acres to its north along Interstate 15. Universal Parks & Resorts will anchor the District expansion with a new, year-round horror entertainment experience inspired by its popular Halloween Horror Nights. The new development extends beyond AREA15’s existing main complex, already known for its immersive experiences such as Meow Wolf’s Omega Mart, Illuminarium and Lost Spirits Distillery.

The AREA15 District’s expansion will include more than 450,000 square feet of customizable retail, office and residential space featuring different types of building structures, with tenant leasing opportunities ranging from 1,000 square feet to 60,000 square feet.

The anchor experience, Universal Parks & Resorts, will occupy over 110,000 square feet in a stand-alone building on the southern end of District. Additionally, more than 85,000 square feet will be dedicated to pop-ups and outdoor experiences, including a salvaged Boeing 747 aircraft to be repurposed as an event space.

 

SAHARA LAUNCHES ‘A LITTLE MORE EVERYTHING’ BRAND CAMPAIGN

 

The all-new Sahara Las Vegas, which recently completed a $200 million renovation, is launching its new brand campaign, called “A Little MORE Everything.” Featuring new, elegant design elements, brand-new eateries, AZILO Ultra Pool and Ultra Lounge, a purpose-built theater for the “Magic Mike Live “production and dramatic porte-cochere fronting the Strip, the Sahara is inviting guests to experience “a little MORE” of the unexpected.

STATION CASINOS OPENS NEW WILDFIRE CASINO ON FREMONT

 

        The all-new Wildfire Casino on Fremont is set to open its doors to the public on Friday, Feb. 10 at noon. The all-new 21,000-square-foot neighborhood casino will have more than 200 of the latest and most popular slot machines, plus bar-top gaming and electronic table games. Guests can be able to enjoy a heightened gaming and sports viewing experience at the STN sportsbook and earn points with their Station Casinos Boarding Pass.

        Additionally, the location at 2700 Fremont Street will feature fan-favorite dining offerings including IHOP and Tacos El Pastor.

  

THE BLACK CROWES HEADLINE AT PALMS BIG GAME WEEKEND

 

        The Black Crowes will stop at The Pearl inside The Palms to shake the roof off the venue on Friday on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 10 and 11 with concerts at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $69.95.

        In 1990, when journalists were lamenting the death of rock, as cheesy pop and hair metal dominated the charts, Atlanta’s Black Crowes gave the genre a swift and much needed kick with their frit double-platinum album, “Shake Your Money Maker.” The band took the rock world by storm.

        With more than 35 million records sold since their debut, this was the most stereotypical rock band of the era, including massive sold-out shows, eight studio albums, four live recordings, and traditional nasty rock behavior.

        The Black Crowes had kicked off a ZZ Top tour for insulting the sponsor and broke up multiple times, with the final straw coming in 2013 when the two dueling brothers of the band vowed never to speak to each other again. In 2020, the band reunited to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their best-selling album.

 

BOB ANDERSON WILL PRESENT SINATRA SHOW AT ARTEMUS HAM HALL

 

Singing impressionist, who starred in “Frank: The Man, The Music,” which ran for a year, 2014-2015, at the Palazzo Theater, will appear at the Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall on the UNLV campus on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 8 p.m. Anderson’s “One More For The Road” show has him performing the most authentic reenactment of a Sinatra concert. Tickets start at $49.

Direct from Carnegie Hall, “One More for the Road” is an acclaimed production honoring The Great American Songbook—with a 32-piece orchestra, Sinatra’s original charts, an Emmy award-winning makeup artist, and the phenomenal Anderson. The orchestra will feature Vegas’ own Joey Singer, musical conductor and piano; Bob Sachs, bass; Bob Chmel, drums; Daniel Falcone, lead trumpet; and makeup artist Ron Wild.

 

MOB MUSEUM’S BLACK HISTORY PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS MOULIN ROUGE

 

        The Mob Museum in partnership with Harrison House will feature a Black History Month program, “A Night at the Moulin Rouge: Celebrating the Iconic Las Vegas Resort Through Memories and Music,” on Thursday, Feb. 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Museum Courtroom. Tickets are $55 on the Museum’s website.

        This program with a musical tribute will be reminiscent of a night in the Moulin Rouge lounge. The tribute will be hosted by actor, director and producer Allen Craig Harris and will feature performances by local singers, including Paris Red and Leon Gilliam, as well as musicians, including Ken Seifert on bass, Greg Brown on drums and Woody Woods on piano. Also performing will be tap dancer Ivery Wheeler.
        The program will also feature a panel discussion. Speakers will include Anna Bailey, the first Black woman to work as a dancer on the Las Vegas Strip, and Katherine Duncan, a leading force in developing business opportunities as the founder and president of the Las Vegas Ward 5 Chamber of Commerce. Duncan also serves as the vice president of community development at the nonprofit Harrison House Las Vegas. In addition, Manny Davis, adopted son of the late Sammy Davis Jr. and head of the Sammy Davis Jr. estate, will reflect on his father’s career, life and experiences in Las Vegas.

        The Moulin Rouge was the first racially integrated resort in Las Vegas when it opened in 1955. It was a national sensation as well, with its dancers gracing the cover of “Life” magazine. Beyond the stage, the Moulin Rouge was a catalyst for civil rights reform in Las Vegas.

 

THE MUSIC OF ABBA IS COMING TO M RESORT

 

        “Arrival from Sweden, the Music of ABBA,” will appear at the M Pavilion stage bringing their world-famous show to M Resort on Saturday, April 15 at 8 p.m. This production is the closest you get to see ABBA with lovely costumes, talented musicians and great singers. Tickets start at $25. 

        Arrival from Sweden was founded by Vicky Zetterberg in 1995 in Gothenburg, Sweden, and became one of the world’s most popular ABBA show bands. The production “The Music of ABBA” has sold out arenas and venues all over the world and has made 80 successful tours in the US.

 

CAIRO KNIFE FIGHT AND MATT GARSTKA VISIT SAND DOLLAR AT PLAZA

 

        International rock duo Cairo Knife Fight are bringing their one-of-a-kind live experience to The Sand Dollar Downtown at the Plaza on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 9:30 p.m. with special guest renowned drummer Matt Garstka from Animals As Leaders. Tickets are available for $10.

        The band will also offer an exclusive drum clinic with Matt Garstka prior to the show at 7 p.m. Drum clinic tickets are $25 and include access to the show. Guests must be 21 years or older.

        Cairo Knife Fight is the duo Nick Gaffaney, a man who has drummed his way around the place for many of New Zealand’s leading songwriters, and George Pajon Jr., a Grammy award-winning songwriter and guitarist who has worked with some of the biggest names in the international music business, including The Black Eyed Peas, Fergie, Carlos Santana, Macy Gray, John Legend, Sting, Nas and Damien Marley.

        Forming as a duo in 2009 Cairo Knife Fight try to redefine what two musicians can create live. After touring in Australia with Them Crooked Vultures, Queens of The Stone Age, Karnivool, and the Foo Fighters between 2010-2015 the band relocated to Los Angeles where they have release two albums: 2015’s “The Colossus” and 2017’s “Seven.” Currently they are working on their third studio album.

 

MASEGO IS BRINGING JAZZ TO BROOKLYN BOWL

 

        GRAMMY nominated saxophone player, singer and producer Masego is bringing his sultry-smooth spin on R&B, hip hop and dance music to Brooklyn Bowl on Sunday, March 12. Masego, who has amassed close to two billion combined global streams in his career to date, will kick off his You Never Visit Me Tour in March with a series of West Coast shows. Tickets to Masego at Brooklyn Bowl start at $27.50.

        Following the 2018 release of his debut album “Lady Lady” with the breakout hit “Tadow” and certified Platinum in the U.S., Diamond in Brazil and Gold in Mexico, Masego embarked on a multi-year headline tour selling out shows and playing festivals on every continent but Antarctica.

        “Studying Abroad: Extended Stay,” the deluxe edition of his acclaimed EP, earned a GRAMMY® nomination for Best Progressive R&B Album. The collection included the RIAA Gold-certified hit “Mystery Lady Ft. Don Toliver.”

 

LADIES OF ‘FANTASY’ MEET FANS AT MANDALAY BAY AND LUXOR

 

The talented ladies of the “Fantasy” female topless revue at the Luxor will meet fans at The Fan District hosted by Mandalay Bay and Luxor on Sunday, Feb. 5 to celebrate the return of professional football all-star players to Las Vegas.

        Participating fans celebrating the football season will enjoy photo opportunities with the stunning cast as well as football legends, plus the opportunity to enter raffles for the chance to win free Fantasy gifts. At Mandalay Bay, the event will be from 11 a.m. to noon in the Rhythm & Riffs Lounge. Later in the day from 6 to 7 p.m., the gathering will be in the Centra Bar & Lounge at the Luxor.

        “Fantasy” performances are nightly at 10:30 p.m. inside the Atrium Showroom, with an additional 8 p.m. show on Sundays.

 

JANE’S ADDICTION WILL HEADLINE THE CHELSEA

 

        The Cosmopolitan will welcome rock ‘n’ roll icons Jane’s Addiction to The Chelsea theatre on Sunday, March 12 at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $64.50.

        Hailing from Los Angeles, Jane’s Addiction, a four-piece rock outfit, was one of the first alternative rock bands to garner commercial success in the late 80s and early 90s. Their debut self-titled album caught the attention of Warner Bros. Records in 1987, kicking off a wildly successful and influential career inclusive of three additional chart-topping albums “Nothings Shocking,” “Ritual de lo Habitual,” “Strays,” and “The Great Escape Artist.” In 1991, the group’s initial farewell tour introduced the first-ever Lollapalooza festival, leaving an indelible mark on the music industry that is felt still today.

 

LEGACY CLUB LAUNCHES 2023 SIGNATURE EVENT SERIES

 

        The 8,400-square-foot Legacy Club at Circa downtown is kicking off 2023 with a new signature themed event series ranging from a Mardi Gras bash and high tea in the sky to a groovy Studio 60s disco party. The upscale rooftop lounge 60 floors high will transform into chic themed soirees with panoramic Valley views, open bars and music spilling out onto the outdoor terrace complete with firepits and comfortable lounge seating.

Starting Friday, Feb. 17 with the inaugural “Krewe de Legacy” Mardi Gras Jazz Party, special events have been named through New Year’s Eve on Dec. 31. The list includes High Tea in the Sky - April 1; Studio 60 - April 21; Kentucky Derby - May 6; Summer of Gold in June; Red, White & Bubbles - July 4; Great Gatsby in August; Murder Mystery soiree in September; Masquerade in October; and Winter Ball in December.

 

SOUTH POINT HOLDS $2 MILLION BINGO EXTRAVAGANZA

 

        South Point will host its $2 million extravaganza bingo event on March 9 and 10 and March 13 and 14. Players will have opportunity to compete in up to 31 games each day, including 10 warm-up games. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. and warmups begin at noon. The extravaganza games kick off at 1 p.m. each day. Buy ins are now available for $445, which includes 9-ON pack for both days, food coupons and dauber. Each game is sold separately. Tickets can be purchased online.

        Extra 6-ON packs are available for $25 with maximum of three paper packs per day. Electronic players must purchase a minimum of two additional 6-ON packs for a total of $50 per day or purchase the electronic special package. Additional 3-ON coverall strips are available for $5 each and there is a maximum of 25 3-ON electronic strips and 4 paper strips per coverall. All additional extra packs and coverall strips must be purchased with cash only on the day of the event.

 

ATOMIC MUSEUM TO DEBUT NEW ‘SPY’ EXHIBIT

 

        The Atomic Museum will unveil a brand-new exhibit titled “SPY” in partnership with the National Security Agency’s (NSA) National Cryptologic Museum in Fort Meade, Md. Set against the backdrop of the Cold War mystery and intrigue seen in Hollywood films, this boutique exhibit is slated to open to the public on Tuesday, Feb. 14 and will examine covert intelligence gathering from that era.
        “SPY” will spotlight how the NSA’s gathering of telemetry intelligence, which is used to obtain data on the internal functioning of missiles and space vehicles being tested by foreign governments, allowed the United States to keep pace with ever-changing technology. Several artifacts relate to ensuring compliance with START I, which was the bilateral treaty signed in 1991 between the United States and the Soviet Union regarding the reduction and limitation of strategic offensive arms.              
        Museum guests will also see the tools used by American intelligence to monitor Soviet activities during the Cold War. Additionally, courtesy of a special loan by the National Cryptologic Museum exclusively for this exhibit, the Atomic Museum will showcase the Enigma Machine, a cipher device used by the German military command to encode strategic messages before and during World War II. 

 

FERRARO’S EVENT FEATURES CORTE DEI VENTI, FEUDO DISISA WINES

 

Ferraro’s Ristorante next Taste & Learn wine event will be on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 5 p.m. Ferraro’s popular monthly wine-tasting and education event provides illuminating wine education along with a menu of expertly prepared, authentic Italian small plates crafted by Chef Mimmo Ferraro.         The February Taste & Learn event spotlights wines from Corte dei Venti and Feudo Disisa. Since 1943, the Pieri family has continued to make the finest Corte dei Venti wines amidst the sunny, rich landscapes of Tuscany. Meanwhile, the Di Lorenzo family has passed down the winemaking traditions of the Feudo Disisa vineyards for more than a century. Its vineyards are nestled among the fertile valleys stretching from the mountains of the Corleone area to the Gulf of Castellammare of Sicily.

 

COUPLE RESTAURANTS CELEBRATING GALENTINE’S DAY

 

        Ladies can celebrate Galentine’s Day early, which nationally is Feb. 13, with their best gal pals on Saturday, Feb. 11. Bottiglia Cucina & Enoteca at Green Valley Ranch and Hearthstone Kitchen & Cellar at Red Rock will offer Galentine's Day brunch specials from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., including bottomless rosé, priced at $25, in addition to a heart-themed charcuterie board, featuring an assortment of meats and cheeses, fresh berries, pomegranate, grain mustard and parmesan crisps, priced at $27.

                In addition, Side Piece Pizza at Red Rock will say “that’s amore” with a 14-inch heart-shaped pizza, available from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14 for $18. Guests can add two toppings of their choice for an additional $2 per topping.

 

ROCK ‘N’ ROLL MARATHON REQUIRES ROAD CLOSURES

 

Time to mark calendars for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Half Marathon, 10k and 5k on Feb. 25-26in Las Vegas.

        The half marathon and 10k on Sunday, Feb. 26, will start and finish on Las Vegas Blvd. The Saturday 5k will start and finish in downtown Las Vegas on Feb. 25. Road closures will be in affect both days. Racecourse and road closures will be available on the Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon website and on race day, folks can download the Waze app for help.
