#VegasStrong

It has been one year since the mass shooting in Las Vegas…and my heart still sinks at the thought of it all.  We are not healed.  It is a burden that we’ll always carry.  A year later, I remember everything.  I remember that I couldn’t talk about the shooting to anyone for weeks…it was just too painful.  I roamed around in a daze for days.  My experience of this situation was the same as the bulk of the people of Las Vegas...  I remember getting choked up, when I went to the blood bank and saw a thousand people waiting in line.  I remember bringing donations down to the convention center and being turned away because there was just no more room to store or distribute more goods.  There was the outpouring…the crosses and memorial at the Las Vegas sign…the Healing Garden…the massive donations to the victim funds…the goodness of all those people just wanting to do something…  I remember taking a flight out of McCarran shortly after the incident, and the flight path taking me right over the sight…the aftermath was still visible…the broken windows were still there…  I remember the night of the shooting…my phone ringing…where are you?  Are you on the Strip?  Are you safe?  Do you know anyone?  Yes.  In fact, I know a lot of people who were there...both attending the event and working the event.  I know a couple of people that were shot.  I know people that were trampled by the crowd.  I know people that stayed huddled in fear, and I know people that got out safely…  I did not know any of the people who were killed.

The one thing that I take away from this event…one year later.  We are Vegas Strong.  There will be tributes all over the city.

October 2018

It’s October!  And one of the city’s newest traditions is back!  Yes.  It’s time for the Golden Knights 2nd Season!  We are suddenly a city of hockey fans, and our Knights are back on the ice in just about a week.

October is probably the biggest, busiest, and ‘funnest’ month of the year in Las Vegas.  He weather is beautiful, the casinos are busy, and the events are plentiful.  Las Vegans are happy during October. When we’re busy, we’re happy. The heat of the summer is gone, and we have some great high points in the month; Football, Hockey, Festivals, and of course, Halloween is always a big celebration. October is the best month of the year.

Halloween in Las Vegas is a full contact holiday.  Most venues will host some sort of costumed ball—usually having to do with some sort of sexual content, and the more outrageous the better. There are a couple of Fetish and Fantasy balls, several Erotic balls, and the Pimp an’ Ho ball. It’s a strange night and not one for the timid. It is a huge party in Las Vegas. There is not a better city in which to celebrate Hallow’s Eve.

Costumes are encouraged, so bust out the bustiers, oversized shoulder pads, and parachute pants and dance the night away on this “THRILLER” night, produced by Next Events in conjunction with Everything ‘80s Meetup Group.
