Christopher Peterson in Eyecons – Watch out Frank Marino, there is a new Queen in town! Christopher Peterson opened his month long run of previews at the Onyx Theater and I was impressed. He does 12-14 costume/character changes into the females he impersonates, AND sings live!! WOW, a really talented guy with a live singing voice. This is not your typical lip-sync drag show that you see all over town. Christopher does an amazing job in the physical look-a-like of each female character besides nailing their live singing voice. Carol Channing, Cher, Liza and her mother Judy Garland are just a few of the lovely ladies whom you will meet in Christopher’s show. Check him out on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 8pm at the Onyx Theater in the Commercial Center. Tickets are $25. www.ChristopherPeterson.netor www.OnyxTheater.com

Smashburger – Recently, the media was treated to an amazing lunch for the opening of another Smashburger restaurant. This new location is on Maryland Parkway just north of Tropicana alongside the campus of UNLV. PS. Just next door to In ‘N Out Burger. If you have not tried this place out yet, you need to go – their burgers, salads, and chicken sandwiches are amazing. Don’t leave without having an order of their Sweet Potato SmashFries which are coated in olive oil, garlic and rosemary = YUMMY!

Gateway Arts Foundation – You are invited to attend the Gateway Arts Foundation annual scholarship awards presentations and program on Thursday, January 27 at 6:30pm at the Family Music Store at 8125 West Sahara Avenue.Gateway is an incredible non-profit organization which grants scholarships to Las Vegas youth performers to pay for music lessons in order to advance their promising future careers. This group needs your support to help our local youth.Further information can be found at www.gatewayartsfoundation.org

Janet Jackson – Janet will be bringing her Up Close And Personal Tour to the Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace on April 22 and 23. Tickets are now on sale at Caesar’s and additional information can be found at www.JanetJackson.com

Rita Rudner – Rita has moved her show from Harrah’s to her new home at Venetian. I had heard rumors for a while that Harrah’s would not be renewing her contract because she is not the easiest person to work with and not very ‘pleasant’ to the theater staff. One of my buddies lives in the same tower as her at Turnberry and he has told me how rude she is to him in the elevator even there where she lives. I really don’t know why entertainers need to be such bitches? I really think some of them get egos that become larger than the quality of their talent. Don’t they remember that if it’s not for the people around them that they would be nothing? People like that who are bitter and rude all the time (even around their house), really must be insecure and lonely. Dr. Phil, here is another case study for you! PS. I heard her husband is a great guy and very pleasant and friendly (god what he must have to tolerate everyday)!

Funny Bones Comedy All Star Charity Jam – Funny Bones has just released the line-up for their 2nd Annual 2011 Comedy All Star Jam Charity Event at the Palms Hotel on Sunday, January 30 at 3pm in the Ballroom. All proceeds from this event will be donated to animal charities by the Funny Bones Foundation. Check out this great line-up of talent:Sammy Shore, Pauly Shore, Bobby Slayton, George Wallace, Vinnie Favorito, Geechy Guy, Dennis Blair, James P. Connolly, Doug Starks, Kenny Kerr, DJ Ben Harris of Terry Fator Show, and Catherine Hickland. Tickets are available at the Palms Box Office.
