Showgirl Follies at Sun City Anthem – Mistinguett Productions is pleased to bring a brand new show to Sun City Anthem. Showgirl Follies is a revue of music and dance performed by Las Vegas’ older showgirls and showboys. This group might be over 50, but they sure haven’t lost a step. This will surely be an enjoyable and entertaining evening! The talented cast of Delia Sheppard, Kimba Munford, Terry Ritter, Timmari Putti, Robin Miller, Nicole Duffel, Jack Fialla, Leigh Christiansen, Troy Stern Papameletiou, Stacy Law Johnson, Jacqueline Koenig, Joseph Michael DiMarco, and Mary Ann Arcadipane will be joined by Special Guest Stars Mark Francis Stella Millano, Sheldon Craig, and Michael Ziegfeld. Tickets are on sale at the Sun City Anthem Freedom Hall Theater at 2450 Hampton Road in Henderson 89052 or call 702.614.5864. Performances are Friday and Saturday, December 17 and 18 at 7pm.

“I Know I Came In Here For Something” – I mentioned the upcoming performance of this play in a previous column and I was able to check it out myself. OMG, was it funny! The play looks at the aging process of both men and women in a hilarious and musical manner. I never knew the discussion of hot flashes, sagging body parts, Viagra, and kidney stones could be expressed in such a truthful and comedic way. The next performance is Sunday, December 19 at 3pm at the Starbright Theater at Sun City Summerlin. Call 702.240.1301 to reserve your $18 ticket. Here is a quick video to preview the show http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wieic4w-oUU .

Ring in the New Year With Society of Seven – The Cannery Casino & Hotel will celebrate the New Year with an electrifying performance by Society of Seven featuring Jasmine Trias in the Club at 10:30 p.m.  New Year’s Eve dinner and show packages are available which includes one show ticket and dinner at Waverly’s or Vino’s Ristorante for $84.95 or one show ticket and dinner at Cannery Row Buffet for $64.95.  Tickets for the New Year’s Eve concert can also be purchased separately for $44.95.  To purchase tickets call (702) 507-5757, visit www.cannerycasinos.com

Fremont Street Christmas Tree – I attended the lighting of the official Las Vegas Christmas tree on Fremont Street by Mayor Oscar Goodman. Santa and his Elves came flying in over Fremont Street on the new Zip-Line attraction. After the tree was lit, we enjoyed holiday music sung by Candy and the Canes. Go check out the tree on Fremont Street!

Lee Greenwood’s Tennessee Christmas – I was Lee Greenwood’s guest to see the one night performance of his Christmas show at the Orleans Showroom. Lee always puts on an amazing show and always has a tribute to the members of our armed services and sings a special dedication of his hit-song ‘God Bless The USA’. I took Lee a special gift – I found an old VHS tape of him from back in 1979 when he was just starting his career singing in one of Breck Wall’s production shows called Leggs. Most people don’t know this, but Lee’s first ex-wife was one of Breck Wall’s dancers. It is always nice to hang out with Lee backstage and hear some of his stories of Breck and Las Vegas from years past.

Martin Nievera – If you missed this past weekend’s performances of Martin Nievera at the Suncoast, then you missed out on THE show of the year. Martin blew the roof off the newly remodeled Suncoast Showroom for three nights in a row. Martin is the number one pop singing star of the Philippines and is sure making his mark here in Las Vegas and the USA market as well. I think I counted five standing ovations and the crowd would not leave, so he came out for TWO encores – that type of enthusiasm not found at other shows on the ‘strip’. Martin’s love of singing and loving connection to his audience is seen at every show. This is one performer who needs his own show on the strip!

Rainbow Company Youth Theater Group – I attended the final performance of “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” at the Charleston Heights Arts Center. This was my first exposure to this group and I was really impressed. The kids did a great job of performing this fun musical. The Rainbow Company is a youth theater training group sponsored by the City of Las Vegas’ Office of Cultural Affairs. Additional information is at www.rainbowcompany.info or by calling 702.229.6553. If you have a youth who is interested in any aspect of live theater, they have some amazing training classes. I went to this show because a friend of mine was in the orchestra – YES you heard me right, a youth theater production with only a $7 ticket price actually has a live orchestra! I am so tired of all the canned music crap from the major shows on the strip which charge over $100 per ticket – it was really refreshing to experience live musicians.

Naughty Boys – The newly remodeled Wolf Theater inside the Clarion Hotel (formerly Greek Isles) is a really cool new venue. The 90+ seat theater has plush high-back seats and is an intimate venue where you feel up-close and personal with the performers. I caught the very funny and very very naughty comedy hypnosis show from the Naughty Boys of Hypnosis. This theater is also the new home to long time Las Vegas veteran comedy impressionist Larry G. Jones. Check out www.wolftheaterlasvegas.com for additional information of shows and rental opportunities.

Hideous Holiday Sweater Contest - The Silverton Casino Lodge is hosting a Hideous Holiday Sweater Party to get in the spirit of the season. Attendees can enjoy live band karaoke, an ugly sweater competition, drink specials, beer pong and even an egg nog chugging contest. iPads and iPhones are among the contest prizes. Guests must be 21 years or older. Saturday, December 18 at 6pm inside the Veil Pavilion at the Silverton. This is the ideal time to dig out that sweater Aunt Martha gave you five years ago which you refuse to wear in public!
